November’s networking luncheon brought members and guests of the Lambda Alpha International George Washington Chapter (LAIGW) together for an engaging and thought-provoking session on the Future of Sustainable Design & Development: From Sustainability to Regeneration.
Our speaker, Scott Brideau who is the Director of Sustainability and Regeneration at Little Diversified Architectural Consulting, introduced the shift from traditional sustainability toward regenerative design, an approach that moves beyond minimizing harm to actively restoring ecosystems and strengthening community well-being. Key takeaways included insights on ecological restoration, systems thinking, and strategies for creating built environments that generate long-term positive impacts.
The presentation sparked meaningful dialogue, with attendees asking thoughtful questions and considering how regenerative principles can reshape planning, design, and development across the region.
