On October 29, over 50 members and guests of LAIGW gathered at the elegant Cosmos Club in Washington, D.C., for the Chapter’s annual New Member Induction and Awards Ceremony. The atmosphere was warm and celebratory as new members were officially welcomed and recognized for their contributions to LAIGW’s mission.

Highlights of the evening included:

  • A ceremonial induction of new members, with introductions of each individual and their affiliated company.
  • Presentation of distinguished awards honoring outstanding service and leadership within LAIGW and the Washington Metropolitan region.

2025 New Member

Mr. Shane Dettman, Goulston & Storrs

In recognition of his over 20 years of experience in land use and development in the District of Columbia and the region. During his 13 years at the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC), he played key roles in major projects such as updating the Comprehensive Plan for the National Capital: Federal Elements and developing the Monumental Core Framework Plan. He also represented NCPC on the DC Board of Zoning Adjustment, where his fairness and expertise led fellow members to recommend him for a federal representative role as chair. Shane later became Director of NCPC’s Urban Design and Plan Review Division before joining Holland & Knight as Director of Planning Services. He now holds the Urban Planner position at Goulston & Storrs.

 

Mr. David Flanagan, Elm Street Development Inc.

In recognition of his extensive experience in the development of land (60,000 building lots), the construction of 6000 multi-family units, the creation of mixed-use communities, and his promotion and awards for delivering Affordable Housing in the Washington and Baltimore areas.

 

Ms. Juanita Hardy, Tiger Management Consulting

In recognition of her distinguished 45-year career spanning business, real estate, and the arts. After 31 years at IBM, she founded Tiger Management Consulting Group to promote equitable and thriving communities. For over a decade, she has been actively involved in real estate and has over 35 years of leadership experience in the arts. Since 2016, Hardy has served as a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Urban Land Institute (ULI), where she provides research and guidance on using creative placemaking, arts, and culture to enhance real estate value and community impact. She also supports ULI’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives as an Equity Advisor.

 

Ms. Ayesha Hudson, A-Peace LLC

In recognition of her broad spectrum of interests and involvement in public sector roles, private sector development and management, and non-profit participation for the benefit of residents in the DMV, Ms. Hudson, is honored for her transformative contributions as a former public servant with over two decades of service. She has since spearheaded initiatives in sustainable, resident-centered housing development, renewable energy innovation, urban farming, and community education. through projects ranging from Solar-Powered Affordable Housing to her nonprofit community Stu-Wards program. She demonstrates a sustained commitment to advancing equity, wellness, and opportunity across the Washington Metropolitan Region.

 

Mr. Tyler Naake, Eastbanc

In recognition of his passion for all aspects of land economics and commercial real estate, from land use to development to financial analysis to tenant relations, and his quest to continue to establish his roots in the industry by developing a stronger network of individuals from whom to learn and share ideas.

 

Ms. Arlova J. Vonhm, Arlington County

In recognition of her extensive experience in development review and in the creation and implementation of zoning and other land use regulations, resulting in a better built environment. Ms. Vonhm has served as a volunteer leader at the local and national level for the planning profession and, most recently, a vocal advocate for zoning policy reform.

 

Mr. Stuart Zukerman, Zuckerman Property Development

In recognition of his extensive contributions to real estate development in Washington, DC. Trained in city planning, he began as an infill housing developer, addressing the growing demand for urban living. His work expanded from single-family homes to multifamily, commercial, and hospitality projects that helped revitalize city neighborhoods. He now leads efforts to repurpose and innovate within a large real estate portfolio in central Washington. A lifelong advocate for architecture, urban design, and local history, he has served on nonprofit and civic boards supporting urban development. Over the past decade, he spearheaded the creation of the Capital Jewish Museum, which opened in June 2023.
