Chris Leinberger is a land use strategist, proptech start-up co-founder, real estate developer, professor, researcher and author. After owning and running the international real estate consulting firm, RCLCo, for 20 years and engaging in development for 15, he and his wife decided they could live any where…and picked metro Washington, DC, from many global options. The reason? His research showed that DC was the model by which Americans were building our future. This talk will share yet to be publicly released research on why this metro area still is the model, for good, and sometimes not so good.
Leinberger has held many positions and won numerous awards for his research work on trends in urban development. In 2020, he was awarded the Richard T. Ely Distinguished Educator Award from LAI. Among his many career roles, he has:
- Established the real estate and research programs at the University of Michigan and the George Washington University.
- Was a co-founding Partner and Managing Director of Places Platform, LLC, a proptech start-up developing an AI-driven, big data platform encompassing 100% of the real estate in the U.S.
- Was a founding partner of Arcadia Land Company, a New Urbanism/transit-oriented development firm dedicated to land stewardship and building walkable communities, focused on the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
