Program Description: There is a very large construction project on Connecticut Avenue in Montgomery County just before the entrance to the Beltway. This site is the location of the new Chevy Chase Purple Line stop. A huge 2.2 million square feet of future development is currently under construction; it was recommended in the Chevy Chase Lake Sector Plan approved in 2013. The project is being developed by EYA, The Bozzuto Group, and the Chevy Chase Land Company. The session provided an in-depth look at the past, present, and future of Chevy Chase Lake. What began with a streetcar stop over 100 years ago is being reimagined as a new, mixed-use community. The next phase of Chevy Chase Lake will provide a range of housing opportunities as well as neighborhood retail and public space amenities to serve the broader community. This masterplan has been carefully crafted with an architectural language that seeks to respect and represent its existing community’s character and history.
