On Friday, April 25, members and guests of the Lambda Alpha International George Washington (LAIGW) Chapter gathered for a transformative redevelopment project presentation on the Reservoir District at the historic McMillan Sand Filtration Site.
The program featured Jack Lester from EYA and Matt Bell from Perkins Eastman, who guided attendees through the evolution of the 24.69-acre site. They explained how the project aims to blend historic preservation with forward-looking urban development, including townhomes, affordable and senior housing, healthcare facilities, retail, parks, and the restoration of the iconic Olmsted Walk. Attendees gained valuable insights into the site’s unique history, the design and planning process, and the public-private partnership that made this transformative project possible.
